HOW TO USE?
Store Uurna indoors in its original product packaging. This protects it from humidity changes, excess light, and dust. You can brush off any surface dust or dirt with a dry brush or soft cloth. Avoid wiping with moisture. Do not handle Uurna with wet hands, as moisture may leave marks on the surface.
Opening and closing the urn is usually carried out by crematorium staff during cremation. If the ashes are buried without the urn or scattered so that Uurna can be reused, opening and closing it is simple.
The locking mechanism is straightforward: a long round wooden pin is inserted through both the container and the lid, pressing the two surfaces tightly together. The closure is secure, and the broad contact area ensures a tight and reliable fit. The mechanism can be opened and closed repeatedly, and no tools are required.
Opening:
- Remove the sealing cord from both ends of the pin.
- Pull the pin out of the holes in the container and lid while gently twisting it.
- Once the pin is removed, lift the lid off the container.
Closing:
- Place the lid back on the container so that the recessed part fits into the opening.
- Make sure the groove inside the lid is aligned with the container’s holes; when looking through one hole, you should see through to the other. Turn the lid if necessary to align them.
- Insert the wooden pin through the aligned holes and groove.
- Check that the pin is centered, leaving an equal length visible on both sides.
- Attach the sealing cord to both ends of the pin.
Moisture fluctuations may affect the tightness of the lock, and it may sometimes feel firm. The pin is durable and can be handled with some force. When inserting or removing it, press and twist at the same time.
